Jose Mourinho has insisted to Football London that Daniel Levy backing a move for Tottenham Hotspur forward Steven Bergwijn was a great move by the club.
Bergwijn only moved to Tottenham in January, and he has quickly made a big impact in North London.
Mourinho admits that he had other targets ahead of Bergwijn to sign at the start of the year.
However, he is now delighted that Levy sanctioned a move for the Dutch winger, as he has been so impressive.
“Good player, good professional, good boy,” Mourinho enthused.
“Congratulations to my club, the way they did it. Initially, and I’m always very honest on this, he wasn’t my first option when we decided to make a movement in the winter. But in the end, a great decision.
“A player with a great future, can play on the right and the left. We’re more than happy, not just his age, but also his professional attitude. The way he trains, the way he lives. He’s the kind of kid that can only be better.”

Bergwijn scored his third goal in just six Premier League appearances for Tottenham on Friday, as he blasted in Mourinho’s side’s goal against Manchester United.
Bergwijn burst past two United defenders before leathering the ball beyond David de Gea and into the back of the net.
The 22-year-old could well start for Spurs again this evening, with Mourinho’s side due to be in action against West Ham United.
