Aston Villa supporters aren’t looking forward to the prospect of Mike Dean officiating their game against Tottenham on Sunday.
The Premier League’s official website confirmed on Tuesday that Dean will be the on-field referee, whilst the lesser-known, Simon Hooper, will take the dreaded reigns at Stockley Park.
Amazingly enough, this is the first time both Tottenham and Aston Villa will lock horns this season, even though we are nearly 30 games into the season.
That’s down to their game being postponed in January when Villa had a COVID outbreak at their training ground.
But regardless of that, it’s a crucial clash for both teams, as they aim to secure European football at the end of the season.
So, one thing they don’t want is on-field referee calls or VAR ruining the day because it has been a common theme this season.
Back in December, when Dean officiated Villa’s win at Wolves, he handed out yellow cards to nine players from both sides, including six from Villa, with Douglas Luiz and João Moutinho both seeing red.
That has been mentioned by a couple of Villa fans, as Dean aims to make yet another trip to the Midlands at the weekend.
