Gboly Ariyibi still hasn’t made a Championship appearance for Nottingham Forest since joining from Chesterfield in January 2017.

Just what on earth does the future hold for Gboly Ariyibi at Nottingham Forest?
If you’re racking your brains trying to put a face to the name Forest fans, we really don’t blame you. After all, hardly any members of the City Ground faithful have seen the Virginia-born winger in the flesh since he arrived from Chesterfield for £500,000 over two years ago (The Post)
Four different coaches have taken control of Nottingham Forest since Ariyibi’s arrival in January 2017 but the one-time Leeds United youngster hasn’t featured for any of them.
With Sabri Lamouchi taking over from Martin O’Neill two weeks ago, Ariyibi, in theory, could be offered a fresh start and hope that a long-awaited Forest debut is on the cards.
But the fact that the 24-year-old is spending the summer training with the U23s rather than linking up with Lamouchi’s first-team squad hardly suggests that Ariyibi is going to play a key role under the former Rennes boss.
So what exactly is he doing turning down the chance to join Motherwell on a second loan spell, having impressed at Fir Park during the second half of last season?

“I wouldn’t think that is a possibility, no,” ‘Well boss Stephen Robinson told The National this week. “I’ve tried very, very hard, but Gboly has indicated to me that he is looking at other things.”
You can only assume, then, that one of two things has happened. Either Ariyibi has been promised he has a part to play at Nottingham Forest (though to say that is unlikely is one hell of an understatement) – or this seldom-seen forward has another move lined up.
