Newcastle United have taken the unprecedented decision to turn Tim Krul’s loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, on the eve of the two sides’ meeting in the Premier League.
Under the terms of his temporary contract, Krul would not have been able to face Newcastle at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.

But the Magpies have since confirmed that following the revised agreement – a full-time contract until the end of this season – he is able to feature for his now former employers.
Dutchman Krul, who spent more than 12 years on Tyneside, impressed on his sole Brighton appearance against Bournemouth on Tuesday and is being backed by many Seagulls supporters to keep his place against Newcastle.
Understandably, their Magpies counterparts are somewhat confused by the development, with some of them fearing the worst.
