Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for South Korean wonderkid Kang Seong-jin – but the rumours have been played down.

Tottenham Hotspur fans may be a little confused amid conflicting rumours over a move to sign FC Seoul talent Kang Seong-jin.

This all started on Sunday morning.

The Sunday Mirror (11/06, p70) reported that Tottenham are interested in snapping up Kang.

It was claimed that Tottenham have had Kang on their radar for a while now and could make their move.

The report added that Celtic have been ‘quick’ to register their interest in signing Kang.

Ange Postecoglou has of course traded Celtic for Tottenham, meaning he could be at the centre of a battle over Kang.

Kang, 20, has emerged as one of South Korea’s next big hopes having already made 57 first-team appearances for Seoul, bagging three goals and seven assists.

A right-sided winger, Kang has caught the eye and we were expecting to see a Celtic v Tottenham battle for him.

Tottenham interest in Kang Seong-jin played down

However, Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Kang has already been cooled.

South Korean journalist Sungmo Lee has taken to Twitter to claim that there is ‘no concrete link or negotiations’ from Tottenham for Kang.

Lee notes that Kang is one of South Korea’s top young players but Tottenham have yet to register any interest.

Lee added that the situation could change in time but right now, there isn’t an expectation that Kang will end up at Tottenham.

If Celtic really are keen, maybe they have a golden chance to swoop in and bring Kang to Glasgow.
