Nottingham Forest are still being linked with Karim Ansarifard.

Karim Ansarifard of Iran controls the ball during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group B match between Iran and Portugal at Mordovia Arena on June 25, 2018 in Saransk, Russia.

The transfer window may be over, but Nottingham Forest could still have two new faces in their squad imminently.

Forest were busy over the summer as they landed the likes of Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele, Saidy Janko, Michael Dawson, Michael Hefele, Jack Robinson, Joao Carvalho, Diogo Goncalves, El Arabi Hillal Soudani and Lewis Grabban.

Forest are chasing promotion with the backing of Greek owner Evangelos Marinakis, and it seems that he will enable a deal between Forest and his other club Olympiakos – though there are conflicting reports on that.

Sport FM in Greece report that Forest are set to snap up Olympiakos striker Karim Ansarifard alongside released midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis, with the latter arriving as a free agent.

However, the Nottingham Post claim that a deal for Ansarifard isn’t close, meaning fans have been left with conflicting messages about a deal for the Iranian striker.

The 28-year-old hit 18 goals in 27 games for Olympiakos last season, and formerly played for the likes of Panionios, Osasuna and Tractor Sazi, whilst he even scored for Iran at the World Cup this summer.

It’s unclear just how Forest would tie up a deal given that the transfer window has closed; they may have paperwork to show a pre-agreed deal that was subject to a work permit, but whilst Tachtsidis looks to be imminent given his free agent status, Ansarifard looks to be a confusing situation.
