Neil Lennon remains under huge pressure at Celtic, and his position as boss doesn’t look like becoming stable any time soon.

Lennon has overseen a torrid season, with Celtic a whopping 23 points adrift of rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Add in that the Bhoys were dumped out of the Champions League qualifiers and then endured a dismal Europa League campaign, and it’s almost a surprise that Lennon is even still in the job.

An exit could come at any time though, and conflicting reports are emerging about a potential replacement heading to Parkhead.

The Mirror report that Rafa Benitez is now set to become Celtic’s new manager having quit his post as manager of Chinese side Dalian Pro.

Benitez will allegedly head to Parkhead to replace Lennon, fighting it out with Rangers boss and ex-Liverpool star Steven Gerrard.

This report has emerged mere hours after the Daily Mail reported that Benitez is not in the running for the Celtic job, as he isn’t interested and would prefer to wait for a Premier League job.

So, which one is more likely? Well, we’re going for the latter; Benitez has been available for a matter of hours, and Celtic haven’t even parted ways with Lennon yet.

Benitez would have major interest from almost any Premier League club with an opening, so jumping into what is a dire situation at Celtic seems unlikely for the Spaniard.
