Celtic hammered Dundee 5-0 on Wednesday night, giving Brendan Rodgers another morale-boosting win – but there may not be good news for winger Daniel Arzani.

The Bhoys were coming off the back of a 3-0 thumping of Hearts in the Betfred Cup semi-final, and were in imperious form once again at Dens Park last night.

Tom Rogic, Scott Sinclair, James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard all found the net in the first half, before Ryan Christie added a fifth shortly after the break.

Now just four points off top spot with a game in hand, Celtic are looking like their top form is coming back, but they did end last night with 10 men after a major injury for Daniel Arzani.

The Manchester City loanee has been struggling for playing time since making the move to Parkhead, but was handed his first appearance of the season last night – only for it to last just 23 minutes.

Arzani came on for Edouard after 57 minutes, but was stretchered off on 80 minutes, leaving Celtic to play out the final moments with 10 men having made all of their substitutes.

Now, conflicting reports are emerging about Arzani’s injury. FTBL in Australia report that Arzani has suffered a suspected torn anterior cruciate ligament, which would rule him out for anywhere between nine months and a year.

However, The World Game report that fears of an ACL tear are premature, and right now it’s only feared that he will be out for a couple of months with a MCL or LCL injury.

Those reports come after Rodgers told The Scottish Sun that he didn’t think it was serious as it ‘wasn’t killing him’ at the time, but Celtic now face a nervous wait to find out Arzani’s situation.

“Daniel looked like he twisted his knee so we just have to assess that,” said Rodgers. “He is a great boy and it’s unfortunate he picked up the injury with a run in the game. I think his knee just sort of gave way and he felt it a bit unstable. He was taking the applause on the way off, so I’m not sure how sore it was – I don’t think it was killing him!” he added.
