Celtic have been linked with Omar Elabdellaoui once again.

Celtic may have landed Hatem Abd Elhamed already this summer, but they really need to bring in another right back before the transfer deadline.

The Bhoys saw both Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa leave the club in June, meaning boss Neil Lennon needed to land two right backs to bolster his ranks.

Abd Elhamed arrived from Hapoel Be’er Sheva, but one more right back is needed in the coming weeks, or Celtic will be left massively short.

One popular name in recent times is star Olympiakos right back Omar Elabdellaoui, and the links have returned again – but there are conflicting reports emerging in Scotland.

The Scottish Daily Mail (back page, 17/08) reported that Celtic are back in for the Norwegian in a £4million swoop, but the Daily Record claim the move has been played down by the Bhoys.

It’s unclear whether Celtic’s interest is genuine, but this is the kind of signing Lennon needs, with Elabdellaoui ticking many boxes.

He has plenty of experience at 27, he has 36 caps for Norway, he’s played in the Premier League with Hull City, and he’s attack-minded having scored five times last season.

Elabdellaoui would fit the bill for Celtic, and whilst a move appears up in the air, this is the calibre of player Celtic need in order to keep progressing, especially after losing to CFR Cluj last week.
