Wolverhampton Wanderers host Preston North End in this afternoon’s Championship finale.
A general view of the Stan Cullis statue before the match – Molineux
If Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Preston North End this afternoon there’s a chance the pair can finish in the exact same positions and on the same number of points as last season – other results depending.
Wolves currently sit 15th on 55 points – a place and three points worse off than at the end of 2015-16 – with Preston as they were, 11th with 58 points.
That aside, there’s perhaps not a lot to look forward too in this one, especially with both sides having aspirations at one stage or another of finishing in the top six.
Both will look forward to the summer for contrasting reasons, however, with Wolves hoping to start afresh in Paul Lambert’s first pre-season as Molineux boss, and Preston looking to add to their early achievements back in the second tier.
