West Ham United host Sunderland this afternoon.

West Ham United host Sunderland in the Premier League this afternoon as they look for a second consecutive victory.

The Hammers beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend, with Manuel Lanzini grabbing the only goal in a 1-0 win – but now it’s back to the London Stadium, where West Ham have struggled to settle so far.

Today, manager Slaven Bilic is without the suspended Aaron Cresswell, and that’s the only change as 20-year-old midfielder Edimilson Fernandes comes into the side, though it’s unclear exactly what his position will be.

That means that the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Dimitri Payet and Simone Zaza all start, whilst Bilic also has Sofiane Feghouli, Havard Nordtveit and youngster Reece Oxford on the bench.

Meanwhile, Sunderland are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season, and are entering this game off the back of a 2-0 away defeat to Stoke City last weekend.

David Moyes has picked up just two points from his first eight games of the season, and Sunderland desperately need to start picking up results if they are to avoid yet another relegation battle.

Moyes can today call upon ex-West Ham striker Jermain Defoe to lead his attack, whilst the likes of John O’Shea, Wahbi Khazri and Didier Ndong all start for the struggling Black Cats.

On the bench, Moyes has Lynden Gooch and Paddy McNair at his disposal, as well as striker Victor Anichebe, as Sunderland chase that elusive victory.
