Confirmed West Ham v Southampton line-up: Arbeloa starts, Edimilson Fernandes on the bench

West Ham United take on Southampton in the Premier League this afternoon.

West Ham United and Southampton are both looking for just their second Premier League wins of the season as they lock horns today.

The Hammers have lost their last two Premier League games, losing 4-2 to both Watford and West Bromwich Albion, piling the pressure on manager Slaven Bilic.

Today, Bilic has handed a first Premier League start to new signing Alvaro Arbeloa, after the Spaniard – formerly of Liverpool – made his bow against Accrington in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Arbeloa will play at left back with Havard Nordtveit continuing at right back, whilst Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna will start at centre back in a bid to end West Ham’s defensive woes.

Simone Zaza continues up front as he looks for his first goal, whilst Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini and Dimitri Payet will offer him ammunition in attack.

On the bench, Bilic has the likes of Ashley Fletcher, Sofiane Feghouli and Pedro Obiang available, whilst midfielder Edimilson Fernandes is on the bench too having impressed against Accrington.

Meanwhile, Southampton picked up their first win of the new Premier League season last Sunday with a 1-0 home win over Swansea City, and are looking for the same again today.

Claude Puel’s side have lost both of their away games this season, at Arsenal and Manchester United, so the Frenchman will be hoping for a better result on the road at the London Stadium.

It’s familiar back line for the Saints as Cedric Soares, Jose Fonte, Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Bertrand all play in front of Fraser Forster, whilst Oriol Romeu will sit in front of the back four.

Steven Davis, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Dusan Tadic make up the rest of the diamond, whilst Nathan Redmond partners the in-form Charlie Austin up top.

Puel has the likes of Cuco Martina, Jordy Clasie, James Ward-Prowse and Shane Long available from the bench today as the Saints chase a victory.
