Liverpool take on Villarreal this evening at El Madrigal.
Liverpool take on Villarreal this evening in the next chapter of their Europa League adventure.
The Reds face the La Liga side in the first leg of the semi-final, hoping to leave themselves in a strong position for next week’s return at Anfield, and grab an away goal or two.
The fixture is Liverpool’s reward for their sensational quarter-final win over Borussia Dortmund, a 5-4 victory on aggregate.
They are without two of the goalscorers from the tie at Anfield, with Divock Origi out with an ankle injury, and Mamadou Sakho left behind as he faces a potential ban for failing a drugs test.
With a prize of a Champions League place up for grabs for this year’s Europa League winners, the stakes are high for the Reds, whose league position of seventh makes this their best opportunity.
