Tottenham Hotspur host West Ham United in the Carabao Cup this evening…
Spurs beat Liverpool 4-1 in the Premier League on Sunday to continue their fine recent form, but now it’s back to the Carabao Cup as Mauricio Pochettino chases a first trophy as Tottenham manager.
Given the huge Premier League match against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, manager Pochettino has unsurprisingly decided to rotate his side and bring in some fringe players.
Michel Vorm comes into the side in place of Hugo Lloris between the sticks, with Kieran Trippier, Juan Foyth, Toby Alderweireld, Ben Davies and Danny Rose making up the back four.
Eric Dier is partnered in midfield by Moussa Sissoko, with Dele Alli and Son Heung-min called upon to support lone striker Fernando Llorente, who comes into the side in place of Harry Kane.
Key first-team players such as Davinson Sanchez, Harry Winks and Christian Eriksen are on the bench, alongside Paulo Gazzaniga, Kyle Walker-Peters and the returning Mousa Dembele.
Meanwhile, West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic is under huge pressure ahead of tonight’s game, given that the Hammers were thrashed 3-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion at the London Stadium.
The Hammers have lost five of their nine Premier League games this season, and desperately need the Carabao Cup to be a source of escape from their league woes.
Tonight, Bilic has given a chance to goalkeeper Adrian, whilst Sam Byram, Declan Rice, Angelo Ogbonna and Aaron Cresswell will make up the back four.
Cheikhou Kouyate and Mark Noble feature in midfield, with Edimilson Fernandes, Manuel Lanzini and Andre Ayew supporting Andy Carroll in attack.
Joe Hart drops to the bench, and is joined by fellow substitutes Joes Fonte, Arthur Masuaku, Pedro Obiang, Sead Haksabanovic, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez.
