Confirmed Tottenham v Watford lineups: Trippier starts, Alderweireld on the bench

Tottenham Hotspur take on Watford in the Premier League this evening.

Tottenham Hotspur are back in Premier League action tonight as they look to bounce back from last week’s disappointing FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

A top four place isn’t secure just yet, and boss Mauricio Pochettino has named a suitably strong side for tonight’s visit of Watford at Wembley Stadium.

Hugo Lloris starts in goal, with Kieran Trippier, Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Ben Davies ahead of him in the back four.

Mousa Dembele partners Eric Dier in midfield, with Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min called upon to support lone striker Harry Kane once again.

That means that Toby Alderweireld is once again only on the bench, alongside Michel Vorm, Serge Aurier, Victor Wanyama, Erik Lamela, Moussa Sissoko and Lucas Moura, with Fernando Llorente not in the squad.

Meanwhile, Watford will be hoping to end their season strongly under Javi Gracia, and continue with Orestis Karnezis in goal ahead of ex-Spurs man Heurelho Gomes.

Kiko Femenia, Adrian Mariappa, Craig Cathcart, Christian Kabasele and Jose Holebas make up what appears to be a back five tonight, with former Spurs flop Etienne Capoue in midfield.

Capoue is joined by Will Hughes and Abdoulaye Doucoure, with Richarlison supporting Andre Gray in the Watford attack as Troy Deeney is only on the bench.

Daryl Janmaat, Gerard Deulofeu, Jerome Sinclair, Miguel Britos and Andre Carillo join Deeney and Gomes on the Hornets bench tonight.
