Confirmed Tottenham v Liverpool lineups: Aurier starts, Dier on the bench

Tottenham Hotspur take on Liverpool in the Premier League this afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur are back in Premier League action this afternoon, as they take on Liverpool just days after their valiant 1-1 draw away at Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to follow that up with a strong result today, and he has named an intriguing line-up for the game.

Hugo Lloris starts in goal as usual, whilst the back three of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen is also familiar for Pochettino’s men.

However, Serge Aurier starts at left wing back, with Kieran Trippier on the right, whilst Harry Winks appears to be playing at the base of a midfield diamond.

That leaves Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min to go forward and support lone striker Harry Kane in the final third, with Pochettino throwing something of a curveball.

Ben Davies is only on the bench today, alongside Eric Dier, Fernando Llorente, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Danny Rose, Michel Vorm and Moussa Sissoko in a strong Tottenham squad.

Meanwhile, Liverpool head into the game having beaten Maribor 7-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night, with Jurgen Klopp’s men in fine form after that win.

Klopp has gone with Simon Mignolet in goal, having used Loris Karius between the sticks in midweek, whilst Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Alberto Moreno make up the back four.

James Milner is handed a start in midfield alongside Jordan Henderson and Emre Can, whilst Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah feature in attack.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is only named on the bench today, alongside Karius, Ragnar Klavan, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Marko Grujic, Dominic Solanke and Daniel Sturridge.
