Tottenham Hotspur must avoid defeat at Wembley to secure their place in the last 32 of the Europa League.

Tottenham Hotspur have made just one change for Wednesday’s Champions League visit of CSKA Moscow, with Harry Winks replacing Mousa Dembele in midfield.

Key defender Toby Alderweireld does return to the squad, however the Belgian is only deemed fit enough for a place on the bench.

Spurs must avoid defeat if they are to avoid total elimination from Europe this season, with a win or draw enough to secure their place in the last 32 of the Europa League.

That could be easier said than done, however, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side losing both matches so far at their adopted Wembley Stadium home.

That said, their only group stage win of the campaign came at the expense of tonight’s opponents, with Son Heung-min’s strike enough to secure a 1-0 success at Arena CSKA back in September.

The Russians have Alan Dzagoev back and available for this encounter, with the midfielder perhaps out to show Tottenham what they are missing after the Londoners reportedly failed to pursue their 2012 interest.

Dzagoev told the Daily Mail earlier that he wanted a move to White Hart Lane, however a firm offer never materialised.
