Here is how Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur will line-up for this evening’s match at the Stadium of Light:
Sunderland starting XI: Mannone, Bardsley, Celustka, O’Shea, Brown, Ki, Colback, Larsson, Johnson, Altidore, Fletcher
Subs: Pickford, Dossena, Cattermole, Diakite, Gardner, Borini, Giaccherini
Tottenham starting XI: Lloris, Walker, Capoue, Dawson, Naughton, Paulinho, Dembele, Holtby, Lennon, Chadli, Defoe
Subs: Friedel, Fryers, Townsend, Lamela, Sandro, Sigurdsson, Soldado
Tottenham have started conceding, and Sunderland have started scoring, so this could be quite a match if both sides continue their recent form. The Black Cats may have lost last time out to Chelsea, but there was much to be admired in their 4-3 defeat, and Gus Poyet will be hoping to get one over on Andre Villas-Boas.
The pressure has – quite rightly – eased somewhat on the Spurs boss after he oversaw a battling draw with Manchester United and a vital away win over a rejuvenated Fulham, but it will only be a temporary reprieve if his side slip up this evening.
Tottenham are undefeated in their last six league matches against Sunderland, who have only managed three goals in that time. But Poyet has already inspired some memorable victories and he will be hoping to make it another in today’s late kick-off.
What do you think today’s result will be?
