The Saints head into tonight’s clash on the back of a fine run of form that has seen them take seven points from their last three Premier League games, and they currently sit in 17th spot in the table, three points clear of the drop zone.

The Eagles, meanwhile, are in the midst of a poor run, having lost three of their last four Premier League games, and they sit one place above Southampton due to a superior goals difference.

Both clubs will be desperate for all three points, and if either of them manage just that, they will be very confident of avoiding the drop this season.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Southampton side have been playing some wonderful stuff of late, but they will have to be wary of Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace, with Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend always posing a threat.

Southampton won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Selhurst Park in September last year, so Palace will be out for revenge.

The game kicks off tonight at 19:45.
