Southampton starting XI: McCarthy; Walker-Peters, Stephens, Bednarek, Bertrand; Romeu, Ward-Prowse; Armstrong, Djenepo; Ings, Adams.

Southampton substitutes: Forster, Vestergaard, Vokins, Smallbone, Long, Tella, Obafemi.

Tottenham Hotspur starting XI: Lloris; Doherty, Dier, Sanchez, Davies; Hojbjerg, Winks, Ndombele; Lucas, Son, Kane.

Tottenham Hotspur substitutes: Hart, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Lamela, Bergwijn.

Southampton go with Alex McCarthy in goal, behind a back four of Kyle Walker-Peters, Jack Stephens, Jan Bednarek and Ryan Bertrand.

Oriol Romeu and James Ward-Prowse feature in midfield, with Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Djenepo supporting Danny Ings and Che Adams up top.

Shane Long is on the bench, alongside Fraser Forster, Jannik Vestergaard, Jake Vokins, Will Smallbone, Nathan Tella and Michael Obafemi.

Tottenham have Hugo Lloris between the sticks, whilst Davinson Sanchez comes into the side to join Matt Doherty, Eric Dier and Ben Davies in defence.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg stats against his former club, and Tanguy Ndombele is handed a rare start by Jose Mourinho as he joins Harry Winks and Hojbjerg in midfield.

Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min start out wide, with Harry Kane leading the line in the Spurs attack.

Giovani Lo Celso is on the bench, alongside Joe Hart, Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Moussa Sissoko, Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn.

That means Dele Alli is out of the side, and the Daily Mail claim that Spurs players are ‘stunned’ that Mourinho has left him out.

The 24-year-old was left out against Lokomotiv Plovdiv on Thursday too, and there are now major questions about his future.
