Southampton take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this evening…
The Saints head into the game having beaten Bournemouth 3-1 in their last Premier League game before Christmas, and have lost just one of their last six league games.
Claude Puel has tonight named a familiar back line, as Cedric, Virgil van Dijk, Jose Fonte and Ryan Bertrand will start in front of goalkeeper Fraser Forster.
Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse and Steven Davis start in midfield, with Nathan Redmond and Sofiane Boufal supporting lone striker Jay Rodriguez this evening.
On the bench, Southampton have named ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Stuart Taylor in their squad, as well as Maya Yoshida, Shane Long, Dusan Tadic, Cuco Martina, Harrison Reed and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Southampton’s opponents tonight are Tottenham Hotspur, which means manager Mauricio Pochettino will be making a third trip back to St. Mary’s Stadium having spent over a year as Saints boss before leaving for Spurs in 2014.
Tottenham have won their last two Premier League games, beating Hull City and Burnley at White Hart Lane, and will be hoping to follow those victories up with an away win tonight.
Pochettino will have to do it without former Southampton defender Toby Alderweireld though, as the Belgian remains out injured having missed the recent 2-1 win over Burnley.
Eric Dier continues in his place, and forms a defence with Kyle Walker, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose ahead of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
With Mousa Dembele and ex-Saints star Victor Wanyama in central midfield, Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen will be relied upon to support Harry Kane in attack.
The likes of Ben Davies, Kevin Wimmer and Harry Winks are all named on the bench, alongside attacking players like Heung-min Son, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and the returning Vincent Janssen.
