Sheffield Wednesday host Derby County at Hillsborough on Tuesday.

Sheffield Wednesday’s continued participation in this season’s FA Cup has seen Derby County’s visit to Hillsborough brought forward four days to Tuesday.
Though far from ideal for both teams, who each have their injury concerns ahead of the game, it is particularly inconvenient for Wednesday who, unlike Derby, now face a run of four games in 12 days – in addition to Saturday’s draw at Barnsley.
Indeed, the Owls are considerably worse off on the injury front, with 10 first team players sidelined along with Derby loanee Jacob Butterfield, who cannot face his parent club.
The recent fitness crisis at Hillsborough largely explains why Sheffield Wednesday – play-off qualifiers in each of the previous two campaigns – have slid so far down the Championship table in recent months.
With their team having failed to win a home league game since Halloween, the prospect of facing a Derby side desperate to return to the automatic positions – from which they are only a point away – is one which will daunt many Owls fans.
So, too, will a record of one win in 19 against the Rams.
