Rangers enjoyed a dramatic Thursday evening with a late win over Legia Warsaw to qualify for the Europa League group stage, and Steven Gerrard has named a curious line-up today.
The Gers go with Allan McGregor in goal, and Jon Flanagan is given the nod at left back, meaning he joins James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic in defence.
Ryan Jack, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara line up as the midfield three today, with Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo seemingly in the two positions just ahead of them.
Jermain Defoe is picked as the centre forward today ahead of Alfredo Morelos, who has to make do with a place on the bench.
Wes Foderingham, Filip Helander, Borna Barisic, Andy King, Jordan Jones and Sheyi Ojo are also substitutes today, with Gerrard putting two wingers on the bench as a potential change to his narrow starting line-up.
Meanwhile, Celtic also moved into the Europa League group stage with a win over AIK of Sweden, and Neil Lennon has been able to recall Fraser Forster today.
Hatem Abd Elhamed returns at right back, joining Nir Bitton, Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli in the Celtic defence this afternoon.
Scott Brown and Callum McGregor start in midfield, with James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Mikey Johnston supporting lone striker Odsonne Edouard.
There’s no place in the squad for new signing Mohamed Elyounoussi, with Craig Gordon, Mortiz Bauer, Jonny Hayes, Olivier Ntcham, Lewis Morgan, Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Leigh Griffiths named as the substitutes.
