Rangers are in Scottish League Cup action today as they take on Aberdeen.

Rangers starting line-up: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Worrall, Flanagan; Jack, Coulibaly, Ejaria; Candeias, Sadiq, Kent.

Rangers substitutes: Foderingham, Katic, Halliday, Rossiter, Arfield, Grezda, Middleton.

The Gers drew 0-0 with Spartak Moscow in the Europa League on Thursday night, and now return to Scottish action as they compete for a place in the final of the Scottish League Cup.

Steven Gerrard knows he can set up a tantalising final with Celtic with a win today, and he has named a strong side for today’s encounter, starting with veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Joe Worrall starts ahead of Nikola Katic once again as he partners Connor Goldson at centre back, whilst James Tavernier and Jon Flanagan feature at right back and left back respectively.

Ryan Jack faces his former club as he starts in holding midfield, and is again joined by Lassana Coulibaly and Liverpool’s creative loanee Ovie Ejaria in the engine room.

The big question entering the game was who would start up front, given that Alfredo Morelos is suspended and Kyle Lafferty is cup-tied, and Gerrard has decided to hand a first competitive appearance in more than two months to Umar Sadiq, who leads the line.

Sadiq will be desperate to impress having been a forgotten man at Ibrox, and he will be supported by wingers Daniel Candeias and Ryan Kent.

Katic is on the bench again, alongside Wes Foderingham, Andy Halliday, Jordan Rossiter, Scott Arfield, Eros Grezda and Glenn Middleton.
