Rangers host rivals Aberdeen at Ibrox this afternoon…

Rangers starting line-up: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Katic, Barisic; Davis, Jack, Arfield; Ojo, Stewart, Morelos.

Rangers substitutes: Foderingham, Edmundson, Halliday, Kamara, Barker, King, Defoe.

Rangers are back in action at Ibrox this afternoon, after a league win at St Johnstone and a Scottish League Cup victory over Livingston in midweek.

With Celtic dropping points at Hibernian, this is a great chance for Rangers to try and close the gap to their bitter rivals for the first time since the Old Firm derby.

Allan McGregor starts in goal, with a back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and Borna Barisic ahead of him, as Filip Helander has been left out completely.

That may be to keep him fresh for the Europa League, but having struggled at Livingston on Wednesday night, his absence will lead to questions about his role.

Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield start as the midfield three, with Joe Aribo out of action, meaning Gerrard has pulled Arfield back from his more attacking role.

Greg Stewart is handed a shock start, joining Sheyi Ojo in supporting Alfredo Morelos as Brandon Barker has to make do with a place on the bench.

Wes Foderingham, George Edmundson, Andy Halliday, Glen Kamara, Andy King and Jermain Defoe join Barker as fellow substitutes.
