Rangers take on Rapid Vienna in the Europa League tonight.

Rangers starting line-up: McGregor; Tavernier, McAuley, Goldson, Barisic; McCrorie, Jack, Coulibaly; Arfield, Middleton, Morelos.

Rangers substitutes: McCrorie, Worrall, Katic, Flanagan, Halliday, Grezda, Lafferty.

The Gers head into the game having only managed a 1-1 draw at Dundee on Sunday, and need to come up with a result tonight to make it into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Steven Gerrard has taken his side to Austria, and he has named something of a surprise team tonight for such a big game, though Allan McGregor continues in goal.

James Tavernier and the returning Borna Barisic feature as the full backs, with Connor Goldson and Gareth McAuley chosen in the centre ahead of Joe Worrall and Nikola Katic.

Ross McCrorie is handed a rare start in midfield alongside Ryan Jack and Lassana Coulibaly, in what appears to be a very defensive-minded midfield trio.

Scott Arfield and Glenn Middleton will line up out wide, with Alfredo Morelos leading the line despite criticism over his discipline in recent days.

Robby McCrorie, Jon Flanagan, Andy Halliday, Eros Grezda and Kyle Lafferty all join Worrall and Katic on the bench, meaning there is no place in the squad for Liverpool loanee Ovie Ejaria.

The Mirror noted earlier today that he has deleted traces of Rangers from his social media account and may even have left Ibrox in order to return to parent club Liverpool, with tonight’s omission adding to the confusion.
