The Magpies saw off Birmingham City in a third round replay earlier this month having drawn the first game 1-1, and manager Rafael Benitez has decided to rotate his side today.

Matz Sels starts in goal in place of regular first-choice Karl Darlow, with an unfamiliar back four of Jesus Gamez, Curtis Good, Grant Hanley and Massadio Haidara ahead of the Belgian.

Isaac Hayden and Daniel Barlaser appear to be playing in central midfield, with Achraf Lazaar, Ayoze Perez and Yasin Ben El-Mhanni supporting lone striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Benitez has gone with a host of first-team regulars on the bench, including Jamaal Lascelles, DeAndre Yedlin, Jonjo Shelvey and Yoan Gouffran, along with goalkeeper Rob Elliot.

Meanwhile, opponents Oxford United – who sit in mid-table in League One – beat Championship side Rotherham United 3-2 in the third round of the competition, and will be hoping to beat another Championship team again today.

Michael Appleton’s men are able to start former Everton man Ryan Ledson in midfield, whilst summer signings like Marvin Johnson, Kane Hemmings, Curtis Nelson, Phil Edwards and Rob Hall all start.

Liam Sercombe and former Manchester United youngster Joe Rothwell are both on the bench, along with recent signing Toni Martinez, who has joined on loan from West Ham United.
