Newcastle United are back in action this evening as they travel to the City Ground to take on Championship side Nottingham Forest in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
The Magpies lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, and manager Rafael Benitez has decided to make a number of changes to his side for tonight’s game.
Ex-Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow returns to his former club as he starts in goal, with Jamie Sterry starting alongside Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and Ciaran Clark in the back four.
Kenedy returns after being ineligible to play against Chelsea, with Christian Atsu on the opposite flank, whilst Ki Sung-yueng and Sean Longstaff in midfield.
Yoshinori Muto makes his first start, supporting Joselu in attack, meaning Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon have to settle for places on the bench alongside Rob Elliot, DeAndre Yedlin, Paul Dummett, Mohamed Diame and Jacob Murphy.
Meanwhile, Forest hand a start to Luke Steele in goal, whilst Sam Byram, Michael Hefele, Danny Fox and Jack Robinson across the back four in front of Steele.
Liam Bridcutt and Ben Watson sit in midfield, with Joe Lolley, Joao Carvalho and Gil Dias supporting lone striker Daryl Murphy, formerly of Newcastle United.
Teenager Arvin Appiah is on the bench, alongside Costel Pantilimon, Tobias Figueiredo, Ben Osborn, Matty Cash, Diogo Goncalves and Tendayi Darikwa.
