Nottingham Forest host Newcastle United in the Championship this evening, with the visitors looking to avoid a third straight defeat.
Forest boss Philippe Montanier had been under pressure at the City Ground, but two wins in a row – including last Friday’s 5-2 win away at Barnsley – have bought the Frenchman some more time.
Tonight, Montanier has again gone with a 3-5-1-1 system, with Matty Cash and Eric Lichaj seemingly called upon to play in the wide areas tonight.
That means Thomas Lam continues in midfield with Michael Mancienne playing at centre back, whilst Ben Osborn will support lone striker Nicklas Bendtner, who starts ahead of Apostolos Vellios and Britt Assombalonga this evening.
Assombalonga and Vellios are both named on the bench though, joining the likes of Mustapha Carayol, David Vaughan, Jack Hobbs and Jorge Grant, as well as backup goalkeeper Stephen Henderson.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are looking for a response, as they not only lost 1-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers last weekend, but were also dumped out of the EFL Cup by Hull City in midweek.
The Magpies will be hoping to restore their five point lead at the top of the table tonight, and call upon two former Forest youth stars in their starting line-up, as both Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles start.
DeAndre Yedlin and Paul Dummett start in the full back positions with Ciaran Clark partnering Lascelles in the heart of defence, whilst Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey play in central midfield.
Matt Ritchie, Ayoze Perez and Yoan Gouffran will support Dwight Gayle in attack, with Mohamed Diame left on the bench despite scoring against Hull in midweek.
Diame is joined on the bench by likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Christian Atsu, Cheick Tiote, Vurnon Anita, Chancel Mbemba and backup goalkeeper Matz Sels.
