Aston Villa travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest this evening…

Hosts Forest may be without a permanent manager having sacked Philippe Montanier last month, but have enjoyed a strong run under caretaker boss Gary Brazil.

A late transfer window spree has seen Forest bring in a host of new faces, but two of them – Aaron Tshibola and Ross McCormack – are ineligible to play against their parent club.

However, one new signing does start, with Zach Clough in the XI having joined from Bolton Wanderers, whilst the likes of Michael Mancienne, Matty Cash, David Vaughan, Ben Osborn and Britt Assombalonga all starting too, along with ex-Villa defender Eric Lichaj.

Youngster Joe Worrall is on the bench, along with Thomas Lam, Pajtim Kasami, Vladimir Stojkovic, Ben Brereton, Apostolos Vellios and Mustapha Carayol.

Meanwhile, Villa were one of the Championship’s busiest clubs during the January transfer window, and a host of new arrivals start this evening.

Sam Johnstone, James Bree, Birkir Bjarnason, Conor Hourihane, Scott Hogan and former Forest star Henri Lansbury all start for Villa today in a strong line-up from Steve Bruce.

Neil Taylor doesn’t make the squad after his arrival from Swansea, but Tommy Elphick is handed a surprise start in defence, with James Chester potentially moving over to play at left back.

Substitute goalkeeper Mark Bunn is joined on the bench by Jordan Amavi, Gary Gardner, Leandro Bacuna, Alan Hutton, Andre Green and Albert Adomah.
