Newcastle United host Barnsley on the final day of the Championship season knowing that if they better Brighton’s result, they will go up to the Premier League as champions.

Rafa Benitez’s men have already secured automatic-promotion but go into the final day of the season one point behind the Seagulls and with a significantly superior goal difference.

But they face a difficult task trying to get the points that will put the pressure on Brighton as Paul Heckingbottom’s men will be desperate to end what has been a promising season on a high.

The Tykes were not far off the play-off places for a fair portion of the season, but two wins since January – surely down to the departure of talisman Conor Hourihane – has seen Barnsley tail off into the bottom-half.

But with a chance to get themselves back into the top-half, get revenge for the 2-0 defeat Newcastle inflicted upon them earlier in the season, and spoil the Magpies’ title hopes, the away side will surely need little motivating going into this afternoon’s clash.

Here is how the two teams lineup for today’s meeting at St James’ Park…
