Newcastle United and Liverpool are back in action this afternoon as they lock horns at St James’ Park.

The Magpies go with Nick Pope in goal this afternoon behind a back four of Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Dan Burn.

Summer signing Sandro Tonali again features in midfield, joining Brazilian duo Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton in the engine room.

Alexander Isak leads the line with Miguel Almiron and Anthony Gordon on the flanks.

That means Harvey Barnes is only on the bench again, joining Martin Dubravka, Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson, Matt Targett, Tino Livramento, Jacob Murphy, Elliot Anderson and Sean Longstaff.

Liverpool have Alisson between the sticks with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk as the centre back pairing.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are the full backs today with Wataru Endo handed a first start as Liverpool’s holding midfielder.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister feature further ahead of the Japan international with Cody Gakpo preferred to Diogo Jota in attack.

Mohamed Salah starts despite rumours about his future with Luis Diaz on the left flank.

Jota makes the bench, joining Caoimhin Kelleher, Joe Gomez, Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Kostas Tsimikas, Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak and Jarell Quansah.
