Manchester United take on Chelsea in the Premier League this afternoon.

Manchester United will be hoping to return to second place in the Premier League table this afternoon as they take on Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Liverpool jumped above United on Saturday afternoon, and Jose Mourinho will be hoping to move back up to second today.

David de Gea starts in goal as usual, with Antonio Valencia, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Ashley Young across the United back four today.

Paul Pogba returns to midfield amid questions over his role this week, joining Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay in midfield, with Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez out wide.

That means that ex-Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku leads the line against his former club, as Marcus Rashford again has to make do with a place on the bench.

Rashford is joined by Joel Pereira, Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw, Michael Carrick, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata as fellow substitutes.

Meanwhile, Chelsea can move level on points with United if they can claim a win today, and put some more questions about Antonio Conte’s future to bed.

The Blues – who drew 1-1 with Barcelona in midweek – start with Thibaut Courtois in goal, with a back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christiansen and Antonio Rudiger ahead of him.

Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses start as the wing backs, with Danny Drinkwater partnering N’Golo Kante in the heart of midfield.

That leaves Willian and Eden Hazard to support Alvaro Morata in attack, with Olivier Giroud left on the bench once again this afternoon.

Willy Caballero, Gary Cahill, Davide Zappacosta, Emerson, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro join Giroud on the bench as Chelsea look for a big statement win.
