The competitive action is fast approaching, with United’s first league match against West Ham United in just two weeks, and manager Jose Mourinho will want all his new players in place by then.

Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku have arrived so far, with numerous reports suggesting Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic will follow early next week.

The BBC claims a deal is close for the Serbian midfielder, whose arrival would free Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba to push further forward and score more goals in the process.

Unfortunately for United, they did not have that key player in their side ahead of their run of friendlies but there have still been plenty of positives, not least the performances of some of the club’s younger players.

This evening gives them and United’s more experienced stars another chance to impress and they will want to get a win under their belts after losing to Barcelona last time out.
