Manchester United take on Dutch club Feyenoord tonight in their first Europa League match of the current campaign.

United manager Jose Mourinho will have desperately wanted to be pitting his wits against former adversaries in the Champions League, but for at least one year he will have to make do with Europe’s second club competition.

United will be smarting from their derby defeat to Manchester City last time out and while there are changes they will want to get a vital victory and an important three points on the board in this competition as soon as possible.

Mourinho has opted to leave Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia at home and this competition allows him the chance to give much deserved minutes to some of those players who have bene overlooked or given only bit-part roles until now.

The group also contains Fenerbahce and Zorya Luhansk so United will have to start as they mean to go on to ensure they take this competition seriously and reach the knockout stages.
