Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium this evening…
Manchester City head into this evening’s game having lost 4-0 at Everton last weekend, which was the heaviest league defeat of Pep Guardiola’s managerial career.
City have slipped off the pace in the race for the Premier League title, and Guardiola desperately needs a positive result in order to ease some of the pressure on him.
Guardiola has gone with an attack-minded side tonight, as Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Leroy Sane will all support Sergio Aguero, with Yaya Toure as the only central midfielder.
The defence sees left back Aleksandar Kolarov at centre back again, and he takes his place in defence alongside Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Otamendi and Gael Clichy, who play in front of under-fire goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
New signing Gabriel Jesus is on the bench, along with Vincent Kompany, Fabian Delph, Fernando, Nolito and John Stones.
Meanwhile, Spurs are in blistering form having won each of their last six games, with last weekend’s 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion keeping them on the tail of league leaders Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino is without defender Jan Vertonghen this evening having suffered an ankle injury against West Brom, and the Spurs boss has picked Kevin Wimmer to replace him in his back three alongside Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier.
Kyle Walker and Danny Rose start in the wing back positions, with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama in midfield, whilst Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli support Harry Kane in attack.
Young defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is on the bench, alongside Kieran Trippier, Ben Davies, Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and Heung-min Son, along with backup goalkeeper Michel Vorm.
