The Nigerian left-back is looking to establish himself in Scottish football.

One time Celtic transfer target Juwon Oshaniwa has finally completed a long-protracted move to Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts.

Celtic were linked with the player in January, with the player himself confirming the interest to the BBC.

In June the Daily Record reported that Celtic were going to ‘hijack’ Hearts’ move for the player, as they picked up their hunt for a left-back over the summer.

However, Celtic’s apparent interest appears to have counted for nothing.

Oshaniwa has left Israeli side Ironi Ashdod and joined Edinburgh club Hearts instead. He has signed a three-year contract with the capital club, who were promoted back to the Scottish top-flight in resounding fashion last season and are expected to be one of Celtic’s most threatening rivals for the title in Scotland.

Oshaniwa will not be available for Sunday’s game against St Johnstone as the club finalise international clearance for the 24-year-old, who represented Nigeria at the World Cup in Brazil last summer.

The deal has been held up by red tape for over a month now so Hearts will be pleased to have finally gotten it over the line.

Celtic fans will track his performances with interest this term.
