Liverpool against Swansea City is one of the picks of the League Cup fixtures this week.
It’s a chance for both sides to enjoy a bit of rest from the Premier League and make some squad changes, which will present fringe and younger players with a chance to step into the first team.
Swansea boss Garry Monk has done well to shift the pressure away from his side and onto Liverpool by complimenting Rodgers and backing the Reds boss to get his side out of a difficult period where performances have been inconsistent.
“I think Brendan will build another team capable of competing for the title because he’s a very clever man,” Monk told the South Wales Evening Post.
Liverpool and Swansea have the exact same record in the Premier League this season with the only difference being that Swansea have conceded two fewer goals from their league games so far.
