Liverpool face a tough test against Southampton this evening.

Liverpool host Southampton this evening in a EFL Cup semi final second leg, aiming to clinch a trip to Wembley.

Southampton hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg, with Nathan Redmond scoring the winner in the encounter a fortnight ago.

Liverpool need a win by two clear goals to progress, while away goals count only after extra time has been played. A 10 win for the Reds will result in a penalty shoot out.

The reward for the winner is a final likely against Manchester United, who hold a 2-0 lead against Hull City, heading into their second leg, which will be played tomorrow.

Liverpool reached the final last season but were defeated by Manchester City, and Jurgen Klopp’s side will want to go one better.

Their form is not great, losing 3-2 at home to Swansea City at the weekend. Southampton meanwhile have their confidence restored after beating champions Leicester City 3-0, ending a run of Premier League losses.
