Confirmed Liverpool v Man Utd lineups today: Shaqiri starts, Matip not in the squad

Liverpool starting XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, Fabinho, Robertson; Wijnaldum, Thiago, Shaqiri; Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Liverpool substitutes: Kelleher, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Minamino, Origi, R. Williams, Phillips, N. Williams.

Manchester United starting XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, McTominay; Rashford, Fernandes, Pogba; Martial.

Manchester United substitutes: Henderson, Telles, Bailly, Tuanzebe, Mata, Matic, Van de Beek, Cavani, Greenwood.

Liverpool go with Alisson in goal, behind a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Andrew Robertson.

Georginio Wijnaldum and Thiago start in midfield, with Xherdan Shaqiri playing in a more advanced role behind the usual front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino.

That means Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the bench, joining Caoimhin Kelleher, James Milner, Curtis Jones, Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, Rhys Williams, Nathaniel Phillips and Neco Williams.

United have David De Gea between the sticks, whilst Eric Bailly is surprisingly dropped in favour of Victor Lindelof at the back.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw make up the rest of the back four, with Fred and Scott McTominay in front of the back four.

Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba start behind Anthony Martial, who has been given the nod ahead of Edinson Cavani up top.

Cavani and Bailly both make the bench, joining Dean Henderson, Alex Telles, Axel Tuanzebe, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek and Mason Greenwood.
