Liverpool are back in Premier League action this afternoon as they host Brentford at Anfield after a tricky week.

The Reds weren’t at their best last Sunday, only managing a 1-1 draw at Luton Town.

Liverpool then went and lost to Toulouse in the Europa League, meaning a response is needed against Brentford today.

Jurgen Klopp goes with Alisson in goal whilst Joel Matip partners Virgil van Dijk at centre back.

Kostas Tsimikas is given another chance at left back despite a terrible mistake against Toulouse just days ago.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is on the right side with Wataru Endo coming in to start in holding midfield.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo appear to be starting in midfield as Liverpool go for goals this afternoon.

Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez start on the flanks, supporting Diogo Jota throughout the middle of the Liverpool attack.

There is a place on the bench for 16-year-old midfielder Trey Nyoni just months after his move from Leicester City.

It’s a very youthful bench for Liverpool today as Luke Chambers, Calum Scanlon, Jarell Quansah, James McConnell and Ben Doak all feature.

Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate aren’t even in the squad but Caoimhin Kelleher, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott all make the bench.

Brentford go with Mark Flekken in goal but are forced into a makeshift back line with Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey both out.

Kristoffer Ajer and Mads Roerslev appear to be the wing backs today, flanking the back three of Nathan Collins, Ethan Pinnock and Ben Mee.

Vitaly Janelt moves into midfield, joining Christian Norgaard and Mathias Jensen.

Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa continue up top with Ivan Toney still unable to play.

Everton loanee Neal Maupay makes the bench, joining Thomas Strakosha, Mathias Jorgensen, Saman Ghoddos, Frank Onyeka, Myles Peart-Harris, Shandon Baptiste, Yegor Yarmoliuk and Michael Olakigbe.

Liverpool starting XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Endo, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Salah, Jota, Nunez.

Liverpool substitutes: Kelleher, Diaz, Elliott, Chambers, Scanlon, Quansah, McConnell, Nyoni, Doak.

Brentford starting XI: Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Mee, Roerslev; Norgaard, Jensen, Janelt; Mbeumo, Wissa.

Brentford substitutes: Strakosha, Maupay, Jorgensen, Ghoddos, Onyeka, Peart-Harris, Baptiste, Yarmoliuk, Olakigbe.
