Liverpool welcome Carlisle United to Anfield this evening in the third round of the Capital One Cup.
The last and only time the two sides met in this competition they drew 1-1 before Liverpool triumphed 5-1 in the replay back in the 1972-73 season.
Much has changed since then but Carlisle will know they have a chance – however slim – of causing an upset later tonight.
Liverpool are currently 13th in the Premier League having collected eight points from their first six matches while Carlisle are 10th in League Two, outside the play-off places only on goal-difference.
There is obviously a sizeable gap between the two sides in terms of league positions but the Reds will know they cannot take any game for granted against English opposition.
Liverpool are without a win in their last five games in all competitions while Carlisle are undefeated in their last five league matches so this should make for an interesting encounter the longer it stays 0-0.
