Chris Wilder’s men head into the game on the back of two draws and a win in their last three Championship outings, and currently occupy seventh spot in the table, two points adrift of the play-off places.
Steve Bruce’s side, meanwhile, are in fine form in the league, having won their last four games, and they sit in fifth spot in the table, three points adrift of the automatic play-off places.
It will be all to play for tonight, and defeat for either side could prove to be hugely detrimental to their hopes of securing promotion back to the top flight.
The two clubs have already met once this season, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw after Villa squandered an early two goal lead against the Blades.
Whilst neither side can afford to lose, it is unlikely that either of them would settle for a draw, so there will surely be an exciting game of football on display at Bramall Lane tonight.
