Leeds United did not only strengthen their first-team this summer, they also signed a number of impressive youngsters to fortify an under-23 side that struggled for much of the last campaign.
Among those were Bulgarian wonder-kid Kun Temenuzhkov, Spanish centre-back Oriol Rey and former Liverpool midfielder Madger Gomes, and all three were named in the starting line-up for this afternoon’s clash with Charlton Athletic.

Ronaldo Vieira’s twin brother Romario was also included, as was Hugo Diaz, and it will be interesting to see which of Leeds’ next generation ultimately make the breakthrough into Thomas Christiansen’s senior side.
There has already been a noticeable improvement after a string of losses in the previous campaign left some fans wondering where the next big thing was coming from.

That has quickly been rectified, with the likes of Vieira, Jamie Shackleton and the McKay twins joined by a whole host of foreign imports hoping to make a name for themselves in Yorkshire.
It remains to be seen which of Leeds’ current crop have what it takes to stake a claim further down the line but things certainly appear to be on the up both for the high-flying first-team and their potential replacements in waiting.
