Leeds United are back in Carabao Cup action this evening as they host League Two side Newport County at Elland Road, having thrashed Port Vale 4-1 in the last round.
The Whites beat Sunderland 2-0 in the Championship on Saturday evening, and it’s back to Carabao Cup action for Thomas Christiansen’s men, just a day after Chris Wood’s move to Burnley went through.
Robert Green is handed a start in goal with Felix Wiedwald out of the squad, whilst Luke Ayling, Conor Shaughnessy, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Vurnon Anita make up the back four this evening.
Ronaldo Vieira partners summer signing Mateusz Klich in the heart of midfield, whilst Kemar Roofe and Stuart Dallas will occupy the flanks, with youngster Madger Gomes – signed from Liverpool over the summer – handed a surprise start in attacking midfield.
With Wood gone and Caleb Ekuban injured, Eoghan Stokes is given a chance to lead the line this evening, with the Irishman making his debut in the Leeds attack.
Summer signings Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski are only on the bench this evening, alongside defender Liam Cooper and backup goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
Young trio Paudie O’Connor, Kalvin Phillips and Mallik Wilks round out the bench, with Christiansen looking towards youth for this evening’s challenge.
