Leeds United’s controversial trip to Myanmar kicks off today as they take on the Myanmar National League All Stars XI at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
The Whites ended their Championship season with a 2-0 home win over Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, and now head out to a post-season trip to Myanmar despite calls for the trip to be cancelled.
A number of first-team players haven’t made the trip, but manager Paul Heckingbottom has still been able to name some notable players in his squad, with opportunities given to young players.
It appears to be a 5-2-1-2 setup for Leeds today, with Andrew Lonergan in goal and a youthful defence featuring Bryce Hosannah, Patrick Struijk, Hugo Diaz, Oriol Rey and Tyler Denton.
Alejandro Machuca and Callum Nicell start in midfield, with Samu Saiz seemingly called upon to support the front two of Jay-Roy Grot and Sam Dalby.
Luke Ayling is named on the bench this afternoon, as are Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Paudie O’Connor, Tom Pearce, Jamie Shackleton, Kalvin Phillips, Madger Gomes, Caleb Ekuban, Ryan Edmondson and Romario Vieira.
