West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield and Leeds lock horns at the John Smith’s Stadium, with both sides harbouring ambitions of promotion to the Premier League.

Hosts Huddersfield enjoyed a huge 3-1 home win over promotion rivals Brighton and Hove Albion on Thursday evening, but Izzy Brown and Nahki Wells – two players who impressed so much in that game – have been left on the bench today.

David Wagner has gone with a back four of Tommy Smith, Michael Hefele, Christopher Schindler and Chris Lowe in front of goalkeeper Danny Ward, with Aaron Mooy and Jonathan Hogg in central midfield.

That leaves Rajiv van La Parra, Elias Kachunga and Kasey Palmer to support new signing Collin Quaner in attack, with Joel Coleman, Dean Whitehead, Mark Hudson, Martin Crainie and Joe Lolley joining Brown and Wells on the bench.

Meanwhile, visitors Leeds also won their last game, having grabbed a late 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday evening, with Pontus Jansson scoring the winner before agreeing a permanent deal with the club.

Robert Green remains in goal for Leeds, with a familiar back four of Luke Ayling, Kyle Bartley, Jansson and Gaetano Berardi, as Charlie Taylor still out of action.

Ronald Vieira partners Liam Bridcutt in central midfield as Eunan O’Kane is only on the bench, leaving Stuart Dallas, Pablo Hernandez and Souleymane Doukara to support lone striker Chris Wood, with Kemar Roofe and Hadi Sacko both ruled out.

Deadline day signings Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow are both named on the Leeds bench, alongside Marco Silvestri, Liam Cooper, Lewie Coyle, O’Kane and Marcus Antonsson.
