Celtic travel to take on Hamilton Academical at New Douglas Park this afternoon…

Celtic are on the road this afternoon as they travel to take on Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premiership.

The Bhoys continued their unbeaten start to the league season in midweek as they beat Partick Thistle 1-0 in midweek to make it 16 wins and one draw in 17 games.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will now be hoping to make that unbeaten run 18 games, and he’s named a strong side for this afternoon’s game.

The notable team news that Moussa Dembele is only on the bench as Leigh Griffiths leads the line for the Bhoys, with the Scotland star no doubt desperate to take his chance ahead of next weekend’s Old Firm derby.

Elsewhere, Craig Gordon keeps his place in goal, but Emilio Izaguirre comes in at left back for 18-year-old Calvin Miller, and will slot into defence along with Cristian Gamboa, Mikael Lustig and Erik Sviatchenko.

Scott Brown will protect the back four, with Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor flanking him, whilst Griffiths will be supported by winger Scott Sinclair and Patrick Roberts in attack.

Joining Dembele on the bench are Kolo Toure, Nir Bitton, Ryan Christie, James Forrest, Liam Henderson and backup goalkeeper Dorus De Vries.

Meanwhile, hosts Hamilton are in desperate need of points having won just twice in their 18 league games this season, which has left them sitting joint-bottom of the table with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Ex-Celtic midfielder Massimo Donati starts against his former club, whilst Dougie Imrie will be hoping to make it an Old Firm double having scored against Rangers last weekend.

Star man Ali Crawford starts, and is joined in the line-up by the likes of Giorgos Sarris, Michael Devlin, Daniel Redmond and Rakish Bingham, with Jack Breslin, Danny Seabourne and Alex D’Acol among the substitutes.
