Confirmed Everton v Southampton lineups: Lookman and Bernard both start

Everton host Southampton in the Carabao Cup this evening.

This fixture was supposed to go ahead last week but was pushed back to tonight, and the two Premier League teams will be responding to two very different weekend results.

Everton beat Fulham 3-0 at Goodison Park, but Marco Silva has understandably made a host of changes to his side as he rotates the Everton team.

Maarten Stekelenburg comes in for Jordan Pickford in goal, with Jonjoe Kenny, Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma keeping their places in defence, whilst Leighton Baines comes in for Lucas Digne at left back.

Tom Davies partners Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield, with Bernard, Kieran Dowell and Ademola Lookman supporting Cenk Tosun in the final third.

Oumar Niasse is on the bench, alongside Joao Virginia, Digne, Mason Holgate, Idrissa Gueye, Theo Walcott and Richarlison.

Meanwhile, Southampton need a response to their 2-0 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Mark Hughes needing a positive result tonight.

Angus Gunn starts in goal in place of Alex McCarthy, with a back five of Cedric Soares, Jack Stephens, Jan Bednarek, Maya Yoshida and Matt Targett in front of him.

Mario Lemina partners Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield, with Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings seemingly supporting Manolo Gabbiadini in attack.

Charlie Austin is named on the bench, alongside Harry Lewis, Wesley Hoedt, Steven Davis, Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse and Stuart Armstrong.
