Everton host Newcastle United in the Premier League this evening…
Everton return to Goodison Park this afternoon after last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Swansea City, and will be looking to see off Newcastle United.
Manager Sam Allardyce’s future remains in doubt despite being in the job for just a matter of months, and a win tonight may not even save him from the axe.
Allardyce has gone with a familiar back line, as Jordan Pickford starts in goal, behind Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines, whilst Morgan Schneiderlin, Idrissa Gueye and Wayne Rooney feature in midfield.
Theo Walcott and Yannick Bolasie start out wide, and will support lone striker Cenk Tosun, who was linked with a move to Newcastle earlier this season.
Tom Davies is only on the bench, and is joined by Joel Robles, Ramiro Funes Mori, Cuco Martina, Bene Baningime, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Oumar Niasse.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have won four games in a row, beating Southampton, Huddersfield Town, Leicester City and Arsenal to propel themselves into the top half of the table and guarantee safety from the drop.
Ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will be hoping to grab a win over his former Merseyside rivals, and has made just the one change as Islam Slimani starts in attack ahead of Dwight Gayle.
Martin Dubravka keeps his place in goal, with DeAndre Yedlin, Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune and Paul Dummett making up the back four in front of him.
Mohamed Diame and Jonjo Shelvey continue in midfield, with Kenedy and Matt Ritchie called upon for width, whilst Ayoze Perez will support Slimani in the final third.
Gayle subsequently drops to the bench, alongside Karl Darlow, Ciaran Clark, Javier Manquillo, Isaac Hayden, Mikel Merino and Jacob Murphy.
